Gary C. Confalone - Founder, President & CEO
Gary Confalone, President, CEO and Founder of ECM, earned his Bachelor of
Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-
Lowell with a concentration in Laser Physics. He continued his studies in the
practical applications of laser technology in manufacturing, and was awarded
his Masters of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston
University. As a member of the American Helicopter Society, Gary was
heavily involved with laser metrology research as it applied to the production of
the Army’s RAH-66 Comanche Helicopter. He received the Inventor's
Recognition Award from Sikorsky Aircraft where he spent close to a decade
developing various laser-based measurement and bore-sighting systems in
support of the Special Ops Blackhawk, Navalhawk, Comanche, and S-92
programs. Prior to starting ECM, Gary was a Chief Engineer at SpatialMetrix
(SMX), and the Director of Business Development at Laser Projection
Technology, where he assisted in the introduction of laser technology as a
staple to the manufacturing environment.

Thomas Kinnare - Diretor of Engineering
Tom Kinnare has been with ECM since 2003 as serves as the Director of our
Engineering Department. Tom earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from
MIT and continued his graduate work there studying Naval Architecture and
Marine Engineering. Tom went on to work at the North American Aircraft
Division of Rockwell International where he worked extensively on thermal
control, fire suppression and instrumentation systems for the B-1B Aircraft.
He has also worked comprehensively in tool & mold design, including
patented 3D track-based contour measurement systems, CNC programming,
and QC. Tom’s leadership and depth of industry experience are an invaluable
asset to the ECM Team.

Ray Ryan - Director of Business Development
Ray Ryan has extensive experience in the industrial metrology field, working closely with large manufacturers and equipment vendors for over twenty years, implementing a wide variety of measurement technologies to solve alignment and verification challenges. Ray’s resume includes roles with Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Bombardier, Raytheon, Goodrich Aerospace, General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as well as a host of other leaders in fields of aerospace, automotive, communications, construction, energy research, shipbuilding and space exploration. Ray has also spent several years working directly for equipment manufacturers selling and supporting metrology equipment from laser trackers to indoor GPS systems.
Ray earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Engineering
degrees from the University of Washington and has been active in many
societies and committees related to the use of high accuracy measurement
systems, including both the American Society of Photogrammetry (ASP) and
the International Society of Photogrammetry (ISP), American Congress on
Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) and Coordinate Measuring Systems

Lucas Prato - Chief Project Engineer
Lucas Prato received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. With a hands-on approach to
manufacturing, he became the Lead Project Engineer at Marblehead
Engineering, giving him first-hand knowledge and exposure to a wide array of
manufacturing processes. Since joining ECM, Lucas has combined his handson
approach with the latest in laser technology to help solve complex
engineering issues, as well as measure a wide variety of industrial products.
Some of these products include hydro-electric dams, composite components
and aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Kevin Cruikshanks - Senior Project Engineer
Kevin received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aerospace from Ryerson
Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Canada. Upon graduation, he continued his
education at the University of Toronto completing two years of studies in
commerce. Kevin’s career in metrology began as a member of the SMX/FARO
Technical Service Group in 1997 and has been with ECM since May 2007.
Over the years Kevin has demonstrated strong technical expertise in
measurement consulting, training and 3-D inspection in industries such as
automotive, aerospace, military, power plant, heavy equipment and machine automotive, aerospace, military, power plant, heavy equipment and machine
tooling. Prior to joining the ECM Team, he worked at API for four years where
he focused on technical support and developing new business opportunities
that encompassed solutions for precision measurement.
Kevin’s strengths lie in his ability to build strong customer relationships based
on integrity, credibility and the provision of exceptional technical support. His
commitment to supplying reliably designed metrology solutions encompasses
the current and future needs of manufacturing, engineering and quality control

David Kramer - Senior Project Engineer
Anchoring our West Coast Operations, David Kramer extends ECM’s everexpanding
coverage from our Portland, Oregon office. Dave earned his
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduated with honors from
Penn State University in 1997. Prior to joining ECM, Dave excelled as Senior
Applications Engineer with the industry-leading SMX/FARO Technical
Services Group, and was the Chief Metrology Engineer at Oregon Iron Works
where, among other projects, he supervised metrology for the Ground-Based
Missile Defense Program (GMD) missile silo production line. Throughout his
career, Dave has brought his engineering expertise to countless companies on
five continents all over the world. Dave brings experience, enthusiasm and a
drive to deliver to top-quality metrology/engineering solutions to ECM's
customers worldwide.

Lukasz Turolski - Application Engineer
Lukasz Turolski, known as “LT” around the office, graduated from Boston University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. LT has had previous experience in the field of metrology working at AGH Engineering, a local surveying company. Since joining the East Coast Metrology Team in the summer of 2007, LT has experienced a multitude of national and international travel providing services to a diverse range of customers from local machine shops to global giants such Siemens, GE, and Sikorsky. His “can do” attitude, spirit, and determination to get the job done make him an ideal fit at ECM.

Christopher Seguin - Application Engineer
Christopher received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2009. He started working for ECM in the fall of 2010 after working as high profile race timer. With accuracy and precision already ingrained in him, it was an easy transition into the world of metrology. He was drawn to ECM by their hands on approach to engineering and problem solving for customers. This, combined with his background in machine and power plant design, makes him a powerful asset to have here at ECM.

Cody Carpenito - Application Engineer
Cody Carpenito graduated from Middlesex Community College with an Associates degree in CAD Sciences in 2007. Prior to joining ECM, Cody was an employee at Commercial Metals Company (CMC). CMC is a globalized company where he worked as part of their design and drafting team providing practical, creative designs and consultations to educational, commercial, industrial, institutional and government projects. Possessing extensive architectural and structural steel experience Cody has allowed the ECM team to become more diversified. He is dedicated to support our company and possesses the motivation to incorporate new ideas into practice. His technical experience coupled with his commitment to a quality culture, Cody is seen as a strong asset to the ECM team.

Dan Haferman - Senior Design Engineer
Dan has 22 years of Design, Engineering and Project Management experience in a wide range of fields and products. Dan’s first Designer and Project management position was in the area of industrial tooling and check fixtures; his next position was in the field of CNC machine design and manufacturing. Dan took a position with a startup as a manufacturing engineer for CNC fabric cutting equipment in 1991. In 1994 he moved to the position of Hardware Engineering Manager where he supervised and participated in R&D and new product development for CNC fabric cutting equipment. Working as a contractor, Dan designed and developed two medical products for Analogic Corporation. This position required electro mechanical and mechanical design skills. The first project was a Patient Monitor and the second project was a Fluorescence Molecular Tomography system. The projects included designing injection molded plastic parts, sheet metal, machined and die cut parts. The projects also required the creation of mechanical designs for printed circuit boards, keypads, cables and cable routing. Dan is currently working on an Aircraft conversion project at East Coast Metrology. This project involves designing inlet and outlet ducts for a gas turbine engine and laying out modification to the aircraft’s cowls to accommodate the new duct system.

David W. Kay - Senior Design Engineer
David Kay brings a wealth of CAD design and drafting experience to the ECM
Team. With a background in ProEngineer and Solidworks, David has led design
teams and been the driving force behind countless high-profile projects for such
industry-leading companies as SpinCraft, Electronic Space Systems Corporation
(ESSCO), and Varian Vacuum Technologies. Throughout his career, he has
demonstrated initiative, leadership and expertise in the fields of aerospace,
aviation, defense and energy, and his name has become synonymous with worldclass
CAD design.

David Mark - Office Manager
David Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History from the
University of Connecticut and a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law.
Changing careers to focus on accounting, David has spent the past twenty
years honing his accounting skills in various industries including retail,
architecture, seafood, telecom and finally ECM Global.
